MIDO Exhibition Vol.3

I returned to Japan yesterday via Paris.
The MIDO exhibition was packed with contents, but now it's time to introduce the frame booths.

I was a bit surprised to find that there are far more brands in the world than I had imagined, ranging from brands I had only heard of to brands I had never seen at all.

This section was introduced as a section where "up-and-coming brands" gather, but it seemed to be full of brands that have already established themselves. Among them, there were some Japanese brands such as Factory900, Yuichi Toyama, Masahiro Maruyama, and so on. However, I heard that there is a screening process for exhibiting in this section, so it is only natural that all of the brands are very talented.

MIDO

Yellows Plus, one of our most popular products, was also exhibited in this section.

MIDO

Yellows Plus is already an established brand mainly in Europe, and they always have a stand alone at the Silmo show in Paris, but at the Italian show, they decided to have a collective stand because this way they can be seen by more buyers. Even if there is a shape I always want, Yellows Plus is made slightly smaller, so it doesn't fit my face. When I jokingly mentioned this to the designer, Mr. Yamagishi, he told me that people in Scandinavia had said the same thing (laugh).

MIDO

This is the MYKITA booth.
From here, we were in the section where world-famous private brands gather! As always, the booth is simple and stylish, and the world of MYKITA's stripped-down design is well represented.

MIDO

This is the Lafont booth.
As usual, the booth designs were colorful and very beautiful. I postponed my visit to the Tokyo exhibition in April to take a closer look at the new products, but there were many eyeglasses designs that I thought customers would like.

MIDO

Here is the Anne et Valentin booth.
The booth was the same colorful but had a different form of charm than Lafont.

MIDO

Among the foreign brands that we carry, the booth of Silhouette from Austria was the biggest one. It was interesting to see their custom-made system, which has not yet been announced in Japan.

MIDO

The popular rimless glasses were mainly exhibited.

MIDO

At the Tokyo exhibition, each brand has created elaborate booths to express their brand's world view. In Italy, however, I felt that the wider the stage for expression, the more ingenious the booth design was to convey the image more clearly. There are various ways to express simplicity, color, and beauty of form, but the booth design is very interesting because the glasses on the face are so small, so it is very important to expand the image of the glasses.

That's about it for today.
