I went to the exhibition.

On October 18 and 19, I visited the autumn eyeglass exhibition.

These exhibitions are held at various locations in Tokyo for each brand, and are mainly a place for eyeglass shops to see new frames and exchange information.

I am writing this blog in the hope of conveying a sense of the atmosphere, although it is only a small part of it. I will also give you a brief summary of how the trend of eyeglasses is shifting and the current state of the production area.

Some brands hold their own exhibitions, some hold joint exhibitions with several brands, and some hold exhibitions at large exhibition halls such as Tokyo Big Sight.

Japanese brands make samples of their new products for this day and have eyeglass shop buyers look at them.

Overseas brands, mainly from Europe, will be able to see their new products presented at the Silmo exhibition in Paris, France in September in Tokyo, one month later than at the Silmo exhibition in Paris, France.

In the Japanese eyeglass industry, exhibitions are held mainly in spring and fall, and new products are usually presented twice a year.

In the case of our store, we purchase a large portion of our six-month inventory at this exhibition in anticipation of future demand.

However, although we do place bulk orders, some customers may think they will see the new products right away, but this is not the case.

The frames we are looking at are only samples, so it takes some time for them to actually appear on store shelves. Some brands receive all the frames ordered at once, while others receive them as they are completed.

And most of the brands do not come in all at once, but a little at a time. This is why the timing of new releases in our store varies from brand to brand and frame to frame.

Recently, due to the tight capacity of the frame factory in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, a major production center of eyeglasses, the delivery time until the frames arrive has been very long. There is a very vague industry practice that frames ordered at an exhibition must be delivered by the next exhibition.

Therefore, please understand that even if a brand announces a new product on its website and posts a picture of the new frame, it is often the case that the frame is not on the store shelves even though it has been firmly ordered.

This situation has continued since last year, and we do not want customers who have come to see our glasses to be disappointed, so we are taking care not to run out of frames in our stores by increasing the amount of frames we purchase, although it is a difficult situation.

Please check our website for new releases, which we will update in a useful column on our website from time to time.
