I went to an exhibition of glasses.
Yesterday, I went to an exhibition of eyeglasses.
In the eyeglass industry, new products are presented at spring and fall exhibitions, and many eyeglass shops look at sample frames from various manufacturers at that time to make purchases.
The biggest exhibition is held at Tokyo Big Sight, but about half of the brands we carry have their own exhibitions in Harajuku and Aoyama, so we hurried to visit both areas.
This is a valuable opportunity to meet and communicate directly with Sabae designers and people working in the field, with whom we usually communicate only by phone or e-mail.
The topics we heard a lot this time were: the price of plating has gone up so much that it's hard! and other maniacal stories that only Sabae, with its division of labor, can tell, such as a manufacturing traffic jam at the 00 shop, which is causing trouble for retailers because they can't ship on time (laughs).
We are very keen on delivery dates. When we see samples of Japanese-made frames and purchase them, they are usually delivered before the end of the year in the order they are made, but this year there has been a significant delay, with delivery taking as long as imported French and Italian frames, in February or April.
In anticipation of many frames departing toward the end of the year, we stocked up a little more this time.
Some of them are coming up quickly, so we will blog about them again as soon as they arrive.
In fact, the Masunaga items we purchased yesterday arrived today and are already in the store (laugh). The new Masunaga products are very good.
